Cheers man,
A bit of elbow grease & emerycloth and a rattlecan of acrylic clearcoat - a very pleasing result
A couple of weeks ago it looked like this...

They're custom made columbus max forks, clearance for 28" tyres and mudguards, with mudguard mounts in the fork blade...but I really don't want to sell them. if the 'fix' i've found doesn't work then I'll put them up for sale, but hopefully it's 'fine'
has anyone ever had a steerer tube replaced, and knows how much it costs?
If you've had em made custom-like (by...?), can't you give em a call back, complete with sob story of poor steerer and lessons hard learnt, and see if they'll do it on the cheap for a repeat customer and good word of mouth forum rep?

Rik, your Jackson is looking proper tasty, especially as it hasn't been pre-stressed by anything other than age and abuse, coupled with bad weather.
Love the look with clearcoat, kind of gives it a hardened, but well seasoned, veteran air to it!
New decals too?

Get a layback seatpost, that saddle nose is over the BB.

Psee, how wide are the new rims?
And I know I've asked this before, but what size are them Paselas, and what do they actually measure up as?

If you've seen his other bike, the saddle wasn't in a TT position.

The Arione is a tad longer than other saddles though.

20mm rims and they measure 30-31mm.

The end you clamp your AHead stem to; it has no solid attachment to anything else until you get to the wedge/cone inside the steerer, several inches away. If it's a wedge, you can also be pretty certain that the axis of the quill will be skewed from the steerer axis, see Chris King on facing AHead stem for why this a bad thing.
I totally get what tester is saying now, this bodge is definitely a bad idea! With a threaded headset you lock up the nuts so there is perfect tension (preload?) on the headset bearings, and of course perfect alignment.
Same goes for threadless, you adjust the preload with the star nut bolt thing, and the alignment will be right.
With this bodge, the adapter is becoming an extension of the steerer, but like tester said it will probably be wonky! Imagine a threadless steerer that was for some reason bent. Those bearings are going to die, real quick!

Impulse buy for the wife (broke at the moment but couldn't resist). Aelle tubing, internal cabling, cut out lugs. I'm assuming it actually is a Concorde but extensive googling turns up no record of a Concorde Ladies bike, so pretty stumped.
Making it 1x7, 28s, guards, swept bars, rack and a comfy saddle. It should be ready just in time for the birth of our first child and her getting into cycling now that we're in a city with a decent cycle infrastructure (York).

I wanna start a project building a BB17 Transfer, any info on where i can get a frame (not a frameset cause i opt on getting a carbon fork) used or new within Europe?
You want us to compile the Shamaldex for you?
FWIW, I've seen Shamal clinchers go for £350 for a pair, around £200 would be more usual for tubs.
