Losing your mojo

  • I think I'm getting back into it. Had a fun hilly ride in Kent last weekend and I'm planning a century for tomorrow. Not sure I'm ready for afterworkers anytime soon, though.

  • :(

gf's fucking flight cancelled now too. Double shit sandwich of a day. Should have rode my bike.

  • "Should Have Rode My Bike". You can put that on my tomb stone if you like.

  • I'm still in bed, so I'm back in the Should've club

  • I went out. Nothing too strenuous but charged about the lanes avoiding SUV's for a few hours in the sun and felt good. I've redeemed myself slightly.

    "Should have ridden my bike."

I know you did it on purpose, but I'll fight this sort of thing on the beaches, on the landing grounds, in the fields, in the streets, and in the hills. :)

At least you're no longer terrifying riders up and down the country with standards which they couldn't possibly live up to. :)

  • ^^ How to cheer up a person having a shit time: correct their spelling.

  • Ah fuck this fucking shit. Finally got out on the bike again after a year of not riding (owing to having a baby, working away a lot and moving to the top of a big sarf London hill) and am so fucking fat and unfit and off form it's equally embarrassing and depressing!

Felt great to be out on the bike in the sunshine but I'm mad angry at myself for letting myself get into this condition. On a more positive note today's ride was better than yesterday's so hopefully in a month or so things will be looking up again.....

  • I'm in the same place. Managed one afterworker last week (was aiming for three). Was slow and awful and I felt destroyed and dehydrated for the rest of the week. But we will tolerate and persist and conquer. Screw you mojo!

  • I'm still nothing more than the king of my own commute.

    Slob.

  • My motivation has drained out me in the last 3 months, I've done around a poxy 150 miles… Absolute fuckin rubbish!

  • Losing my commute has really fucked me!
Going to try and wade through a few fixed miles with my stick legs and gammy lungs tomorrow.
Expect nothing, be pleased with anything!

  • Have fun jogger. I'll join you soon.

  • Managed a century and a bit today. First half went astonishingly well but that turned out to be the tailwind. Let's not talk about the second half.

  • Amazing work Bendix.
I'm going to try and ride tmw...

  • Thanks. I had vague aspirations to ride tomorrow as well but that was perhaps optimistic :/

  • Well that's an annoyingly rapid return to something like form! Even by your high standards. Fair play.

  • Tried to ride to Maldon and back today; getting the train back from Ingatestone. Oops.Hopefully this means I'll be OK to fit in a mini afterworker tomorrow, though.

  • I bailed on a century after 85... It would've been the flattest 100 in the UK too.
Getting the train back from Skegness rather than riding back to Boston and catching the train back. Started the return and got to about 5 miles and ran out of food and water.
It was quite fast though, so I'll take it. And it was nice being back in Lincolnshire.
Worth it for the hour I had to eat some fresh fried haddock. It was the length of my top tube. Mmmmmmm.

    Tcb, all kinds of awesome!

Regretting it now. Should've htfu'd... Much sunny. So flat. Many cabbage.

Maldon is plain wrong. Great Bardfield Blue Egg cafe better mampf hence ideal century. Mostly A roads not too busy.

Two poached eggs on white toast with tomato and baked beans, Orangina, cherry bakewell slice and cappuccino

  • There was a big queue at the Blue Egg when we got there today, I've never actually seen that.

I did a windy century in Essex today, my third ride of the year because I have been having similar issues. Hopefully from now on I'll have more motivation...

I know the Blue Egg very well, I had the poached eggs just the other day. But there's an ace pub in Maldon with tasty food and its own microbrewery, and I prefer my route to Maldon, so you can keep all your blue eggs in one basket if you like but I shall continue to mix things up. If I can make it past Ingatestone next time.

No queue for me. I bet you missed breakfast as well?

  • I've spent the winter doing fuck all apart from my commute, and I've since spent almost a month in bed under the tyranny of "complete rest".

As a result of this, my legs have turned to cheese noodles and my body - expecting to be fed the diet of a regular cyclist regardless of its activity level - is now shaped like a Skyacht Personal Blimp.

Hopefully the forces of self-hatred will shortly be able to overcome the forces of legitimate illness and I'll be able to join the rest of the mojo-less before the sun fucks off again for another 90 months.
