  • You just made that up.

  • was it that convincing?

  • I like that idea.

  • You just made that up.

Nah, I definitely get that. Works well with a compact on big ring + middle sprocket. I'm not so keen on standard big ring + small sprocket, precisely because of the non-parallel-ness. A good manly gear, but not good for p0rn aesthetics. Big ring + big sprocket = parallel but then you're in a silly gear with the rear mech all stretched out.

  • I always like big ring -little sprocket for a road bike. Shouts hyper speed.

Then little ring big sprocket on a MTB. Shouts that you can ride up Muddy cliffs.

  • I've always liked big ring/ middle of the block. Jockey wheel centres slightly forward of vertical. To me it just looks faster, as if its poised to accelerate hard. I find big ring/ small cog too high. The bike looks as if its going no where fast.

    Parallel chain. Nah.

  • made by?

  • Edit: Stand corrected. *bows.

  • Can anyone tell me what the general name for this type of handlebar is as seen in the post or on this bike: http://www.dolan-bikes.com/dolan-track-bikes/track-bikes/track-aluminium/dolan-fxe-aluminium-fixie-bike-black-matt.html

I have a trek district which I love but the handlebars are a bit high and far back, and I'd like a more aggressive position. I like these ones without the curve down, i.e. just going forwards. Can anyone enlighten me as to their name and if they're good.

  • I think you're describing bullhorns, although they vary quite a lot in shape (e.g. the ones in that image have a degree of drop from the clamp, so best to try before you buy

Racing bikes should be photographed in setting fast. I'm not arguing a case, it's was a FACT and is now an INTERNET FACT...

...just as cross bikes should be muddy and beaters should be locked-up.

Parallel lines look nice, on a mixte's frame tubes.

    :)

    ...and in detail ^ this.

  • Just paint porn? Inspired by Randy De Puniet a rider in the Suzuki Moto GP

  • tiny

  • Lovely tho.

    Great idea too imo.

    Kwak pls.

  • I'll take it, should fit me fine with a longer stem.

  • Does anyone know why hipster-prolly types go for SRAM on their road bikes?

  • It's partly a patriotic American thing I think. See also Chris King, Phil Wood, Thomson, Enveā€¦ Not to say it's not good stuff, but it definitely adds a bit of cachet for some people.

  • Yeah. They're a bit anal about it. But then Italians like to stick to Campagnolo. No?

Looking at the sales volumes, I'd be surprised if SRAM made as much money for the US economy as Shimano, given that the manufacturing is mostly offshore.

Yeah, but it's the perception of it as being the American choice vs the Japanese or the Euro choice. Similar thing with cars there.

Sure, nothing wrong with it at all really, I think e.g. in this country people rate Hope and Royce more highly than people elsewhere might.

Because SRAM is good / less expensive / light?
