  • 64.5 x lots and lots

  • Dibs! Now to just find an empty warehouse to store it in ...

  • ^^^^

  • Yes, that's bigger, but doesn't look like coffee :)

  • Today I had to go to one of the biggest warehouses in the country storing coffee after it arrives in UK. It's of a very impressive size, makes you think a little how huge is the industry, and how much of this stuff we go through. I can say it was a biggest amount I've ever seen in one place, and it just one of the warehouses.
Please excuse my shit photo skills, I was too excited to hold my phone still.
    Four rows of mountains:

    Looking to the left... :

    ... and to the right:

    Green beans?

  • Impressive

  • ^^ Yes, that's all green beans.

  • Nope, you have to have a toilet for the staff, which must also have a handwash basin that is not used for any other purpose than handwashing.

No requirement to provide evacuation facilities for the punters.

I think you only need access to a toilet, rather than your own toilet for staff.

Is there a map of london and with all the good coffee shops marked on it?
I'm walking from Euston to Mayfair tomorrow and might need some pointers.

  • New machine arrived in the office today:

Touch screen with 24 different drinks options (including hot chocolate).

    Lovely so far.

  • ^^^^ Woooof, is that Eniti's warehouse?

  • ^^ boy, that thing is reaaaally ugly!

Wild Wood is great in Central.

This one is in Tilbury. Eniti is on a list to visit.

  • .

I think it's been re-named to wild and coffee or something now, but if it's the place just off high Holborn, tis great. Lovely environment and top coffee and food.

  • Was more the link to the map tbh

It might be too late, but there's this one:

they're entrusting the safety of that much coffee to a place in TILBURY.

fuck me, I did my driving lessons around there and it's crime central. I wouldnt be surprised if it was ground zero for the chav outbreak of the late 90's.

  • I was working outside yesterday after turning my Gaggia Factory 105 on.

    Me Julie reports the following:

    • Boiler made standard heating up noises
    • Sound of steam emerging
-Went over to check- pressure needle "all the way round" the dial"
    • Steam venting from the emergency pressure release
    • She turned it off

And now the heating element doesn't turn on.

Has anyone had this happen before?

I'll take it apart later, just wondered if this was a known failure mode.

  • Did it have water in it? I think there's a safety cut off switch inside, you might need to reset it.

  • Yeah, it was about half full.

I'll have a look for a reset switch when I take the base plate off.

  • "The design incorporates the best of modern technology such as a nickel plated non-corrosive brass boiler, long life element, pressurestat and a reset safety thermostat."

    From here.

So, looks like they'll be some means of resetting it.

Perhaps more importantly- why did it go up to 4 bar in the first place?

Duff pressurestat the most likely candidate?

  • Yep, check the pressurestat, and locate the trip switch.

  • My partner drinks decaf only and is getting miffed that a v.nice local coffee shop has "just run out" on her last 3 visits. Q for baristas, is decaf something a decent shop should manage good stock of, as they would espresso or filter, or is it an afterthought with a 'it don't matter' attitude to those what might want order it?

  • It depends, who and where.
Some places do not have a second/third grinder, and don't sell much of decaf. They may be ordering smaller batches of ground decaf.
In my case I tried not to run out, but not having too much stock sitting around, as it goes stale quicker once ground, and turns nasty.

Some places just don't give a shit. But I don't know/go to those places.
