Since the advent of daytime tv
and rolling 24 hour news,
a blank screen is unacceptable,
and news was transformed into misery digest.
News is finite, misery knows no linguistic nor ethnic bounds
and is always importable.
It takes a heart of stone to refuse to have one's anxiety level needlessly raised.
