  • RIP Bob Crow. A massive loss to the trade union movement. Only 52 as well.

Fought tirelessly for his members' rights.

  • ^this
He's was a lone voice prepared still to speak about basic working rights after Thatcher then new Labour destroyed any vestige of socialism in this country

  • +1 to all of the above. It's never good when a strong voice like that disappears from stage, less so these days with those crooks in charge.

  • He will be missed... A lot more than people realise...

I think you are probably right however I thought the man was a cunt before he died so his death doesn't change that view. Not unless I hear that the numerous times he was seen drunkenly insulting and ranting at passers in various pubs around Euston whist under the protection of his entourage of bodyguards/minders was actually improving his members working conditions.

There was an impressive side to him for sure but he was still a drunken cunt when I met him.

  • Really sorry to hear of Bob's passing. A massive loss. Heard him speak a fair few times and the guy was amazing - a real inspiration. I only wish my union leader (who is very good) was as good as Bob.

I meant to listen to him on Radio 4's PM programme yesterday evening but forgot. Only 52 too. Thoughts are with his family and those who knew him well.

  • He played a blinder there. After The Mail's rather creepy shots of Crow on holiday Crow claimed to have booked the holiday via a daily Mail advert. Unprove-able, but it's playing it with a straight bat, right back atcha, Daily Mail.

Bob Crow was a major figure in the labour movement and was loved and deeply respected by his members.

I didn’t always agree with him politically but I always respected his tireless commitment to fighting for the men and women in his union. He did what he was elected to do, was not afraid of controversy and was always out supporting his members across the country.

    Guess which politicians eulogy?

It's not Boris', nor Cameron's. No, it's Ed Milliband's. Ed fucking Milliband.

You're meant to be on our fucking side Ed, you snide little cunt.

  • covent garden tube. nice gesture.

  • Too slow, Joe.

  • Anyway, it's a wonderful quote and bears re-posting.

  • Dammit, too slow...

    Dammit, too slow...
Too slow even to say 'too slow' without being too slow.

  • Is Oli trolling me?
    #ignorefunction

  • u bin trolliver'd.

  • +100 to all the above.
Often seemed a lone voice but a tireless fighter, never gave up.
    He'll be missed massively.

    RIP Bob Crow.

  • That fat cunt, nick ferrari on LBC will be dancing in the streets now...
    :(

Yup, couldn't have happened at a better time for those cunts in power... RIP...

I hope he finds an equally capable successor. Fat chance of that, I know.

Excellent time for people to show their true colours on social media... I'm amazed... Knobs...

This country is getting dry-fucked in the arse yet people still can't see it, astonishing...

He will be missed... A lot more than people realise...

I'd buy you guys a pint, if you were here.

I certain most of the hate he got form the public was down to jealousy at not having their own unions.

    RIP Bob Crow.

  • ^ Nah, I'm pretty sure is was blinkered self-interest at having their routine train into work disrupted occasionally.

I'm a TSSA member and was just talking to my rep who knew Bob well. They didn't see eye to eye on many issues (the RMT was often frustrated that TSSA wouldn't back them on action) but he was hugely respected and we both agreed it's a sad turn of events and a big loss for the cause.

Given that my rep (who's a revolutionary communist and spends his weekend demonstrating and selling socialist worker) found BC overly millitant at times I think i's only fair to ackowledge that he was a divisive character in eulogies as long as it's done with respect... In fact I get the feeling BC would feel like he wasn't doing his job if politicians (even on what's left of the left) felt they had to caveatt their condolences with a footnote that they found him a stubborn old bugger.

LIke TS i'm apalled at some of the comments popping up on my FB feed. Time for another cull.

  • i see pro-cunt katie 'wouldn't cross the road to piss on her eyes if they were on fire' hopkins has already weighed in with some predictably trolltastic twitterings. look em up yourself if you're that interested.
