There is no way to protect yourself from the rain while riding a low recumbent. Years ago I had a Greenspeed with full guards and despite adding full fenders (and later on, plastic sheeting on the driver side of each wheel) there was no escape.
Of course, you could buy a fully enclosed one. $$$$$$ and ########
